Acoustic Top

what are good materials for a guitar to be made of?

I'm looking at a classical guitar which has a spruce top, catalpa back and sides and a maple neck

It costs $229 AUD so it's not top of the range, but I just wanna know if it's half decent for the price

Spruce for the customary acoustic top is the norm, but for classical guitars, the preferred top would be made of red cedar.

Also, for many guitarists, rosewood backs and sides are the preference, but some prefer mahogany sides and back for higher, sharper tones.

Necks are made from maple or mahogany with fretboards of rosewood, maple, or ebony.

This answers your basic question you posed to the forum with no comments made on your choice of guitar.
